The lawmaker, Representative Jane Harman of California, became the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee after the 2002 election and had ambitions to be its chairwoman when the party gained control of the House in 2006. One official who has seen transcripts of several wiretapped calls said she appeared to agree to intercede in exchange for help in persuading party leaders to give her the powerful post.
One of the very few members of Congress with broad access to the most sensitive intelligence information, including aspects of the Bush administration’s wiretapping that were disclosed in December 2005, Ms. Harman was inadvertently swept up by N.S.A. eavesdroppers who were listening in on conversations during an investigation, three current or former senior officials said. It is not clear exactly when the wiretaps occurred; they were first reported by Congressional Quarterly on its Web site.
The official with access to the transcripts said someone seeking help for the employees of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a prominent pro-Israel lobbying group, was recorded asking Ms. Harman, a longtime supporter of its efforts, to intervene with the Justice Department. She responded, the official recounted, by saying she would have more influence with a White House official she did not identify.
In return, the caller promised her that a wealthy California donor — the media mogul Haim Saban — would threaten to withhold campaign contributions to Representative Nancy Pelosi, the California Democrat who was expected to become House speaker after the 2006 election, if she did not select Ms. Harman for the intelligence post.
Ms. Harman denied Monday having ever spoken to anyone in the Justice Department about Steven J. Rosen and Keith Weissman, the two former analysts for Aipac. Her office issued a statement saying, “Congresswoman Harman has never contacted the Justice Department about its prosecution of present or former Aipac employees.”
The statement did not, however, address whether Ms. Harman had contacted anyone at the White House or had participated in phone calls in which she was asked to intervene in exchange for help in being named chairwoman of the Intelligence Committee.
David Szady, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s former top counterintelligence official who ran the investigation of Mr. Rosen and Mr. Weissman, said in an interview Monday that he was confident Ms. Harman had never intervened. “In all my dealings with her, she was always professional and never tried to intervene or get in the way of any investigation,” Mr. Szady said.
The officials who were familiar with the transcripts, speaking on condition of anonymity because the issue involved intelligence matters, also said they knew of no evidence that Ms. Harman had intervened in the case.
One of the officials said he was familiar with the transcript of “at least one phone call” in which Ms. Harman discussed weighing in with the department on the investigation of the Aipac officials and her possible chairwomanship of the Intelligence Committee. (She did not get the post.) He identified the California donor as Mr. Saban, a vocal supporter of Israel who turned the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers into a global franchise.
The CQ article, citing unnamed present and former national security officials, said a preliminary review was halted by Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales because he wanted Ms. Harman’s support in dissuading The New York Times from running an article disclosing a program of wiretapping without warrants conducted by the National Security Agency.
Bill Keller, the executive editor of The Times, said in a statement Monday that Ms. Harman called Philip Taubman, then the Washington bureau chief of The Times, in October or November of 2004. Mr. Keller said she spoke to Mr. Taubman — apparently at the request of Gen. Michael V. Hayden, then the N.S.A. director — and urged that The Times not publish the article.
“She did not speak to me,” Mr. Keller said, “and I don’t remember her being a significant factor in my decision.”
Shortly before the article was published more than a year later, in December 2005, Mr. Taubman met with a group of Congressional leaders familiar with the eavesdropping program, including Ms. Harman. They all argued that The Times should not publish.
The former officials who spoke to The Times did not know about Mr. Gonzales’s reported role nor about Ms. Harman’s contacts with The Times. Aides to Mr. Gonzales declined to comment.
A spokesman for Mr. Saban did not return telephone calls. A spokesman for Ms. Pelosi said the speaker had no comment.
The possibility that Ms. Harman might be under investigation surfaced in news reports in 2006. The CQ report provided new details, including quotations attributed to the transcripts of one of Ms. Harman’s conversations. Ms. Harman, CQ said, told the person who requested her aid that she would “waddle in” to the matter, “if you think it would make a difference.” Before ending the call, CQ reported, Ms. Harman said, “This conversation doesn’t exist.”
It is unclear when this conversation was supposed to have taken place, but Mr. Rosen and Mr. Weissman were fired from Aipac in March 2005 and indicted a few weeks later. They were charged with violating the World War I-era Espionage Act when they shared with colleagues, journalists and Israeli Embassy officials information about Iran and Iraq they had learned from talking to high-level United States policy makers.
The trial of Mr. Rosen and Mr. Weissman seems on track to begin in June in Alexandria, Va.

1850 - 12.000 Αρμένιοι και Νεστοριανοί σφαγιάζονται από Κούρδους υπό την ηγεσία του Μπεντέρ Χαν Μπέγκ, οι οποίοι είναι οπλισμένοι με καραμπίνες, ειδικά κατασκευασμένες για την τουρκική κυβέρνηση και οι οποίοι χρηματοδοτούνται και υποστηρίζονται επίσης από την τουρκική κυβέρνηση.
7 Απριλίου του 1860 - Ο Σουλτάνος διατάζει την σφαγή των Μαρωνιτών χωρικών στον Λίβανο.
6 Ιουλίου 1860 - Σύριοι σφαγιάζονται μετά από διαταγή του Αχμέντ πασά. Ο αριθμός των σφαγιασθέντων συμπεριλαμβανομένων και των Μαρωνιτών του Λιβάνου στις 7 Απριλίου, ανέρχεται στις 11.000.
1876 - Εξαπολύονται συμμορίες Τούρκων...

Καλοκαίρι του 1892 - Σφαγιάζονται 8.000 Γιεζίδες κοντά στο Μοσούλ, και καίγονται τα χωριά τους διότι αρνούνται να ασπαστούν το Ισλαμ, μετά από εντολές του Φερίκ πασά.
Σεπτέμβριος του 1894 έως Αύγουστο του 1896 - Ο Σουλτάν Χαμίτ εφαρμόζει την τακτική της γενοκτονίας στους Αρμένιους.
Αύγουστος και Σεπτέμβριος του 1894 - 12.000 Αρμένιοι σκοτώνονται στο Σασούν.
Οκτώβριος του 1895 - Λαμβάνει χώρα η πρώτη οργανωμένη γενοκτονία στην Κωνσταντινούπολη και στην Τραπεζούντα.
Νοέμβριος και Δεκέμβριος του 1895 - Οι τουρκικές αρχές οργανώνουν μεγάλης έκτασης σφαγές σε όλη τη χώρα.
Ιούνιος του 1896 - Σφαγή των Αρμενίων της πόλης Βαν.
1896 - Σφαγή 300.000 Αρμενίων στην Κωνσταντινούπολη.
12 Μαΐου 1896 - Δολοφονίες 55.000 Ελλήνων και διαμάχες μεταξύ Ελλήνων και Τούρκων στην Κρήτη.
Μάρτιος του 1909 - Νέες σφαγές 30.000 Αρμενίων και Αμερικανών ιεραποστόλων, στα Άδανα και άλλες πόλεις της Κιλικίας, οργανωμένες από τους Νεότουκρους.
1909 - Οι Νεότουρκοι αντιμετωπίζουν την επανάσταση των Αράβων στην Υεμένη με αιματοχυσίες.
1 Οκτωβρίου 1911 - Δολοφονείται ο Επίσκοπος Γρεβενών, Αιμιλιανός από τους Τούρκους.
1912 - Ο τουρκικός στρατός κατά την υποχώρησή του από την ανατολική Θράκη, λεηλατεί τα χωριά της περιοχής του Διδυμοτείχου και της Ανδριανούπολης. Τα χωριά της περιοχής Μαλγάρα καίγονται. Το ίδιο συμβαίνει και στο Κεσσάνι. Δολοφονίες και σφαγές συνοδεύουν την καταστροφή και λεηλασία της ελληνικής αυτής περιοχής.
1913 - Η ανακατάληψη της ανατολικής Θράκης με τις θηριωδίες που ακολουθούν έχει ως αποτέλεσμα τη σφαγή 15.690 Ελλήνων.
Φεβρουάριος 1913 - Οι Έλληνες κάτοικοι της περιφέρειας Κριθέα της Ανατολικής Θράκης τρέπονται σε φυγή από τις Τουρκικές αρχές. Ακολουθούν βάρβαρες λεηλασίες.
Ιανουάριος έως Δεκέμβριος του 1914 - Πάνω από 250.000 Έλληνες εκτοπίζονται από τις περιοχές της ανατολικής Θράκης και Σμύρνης. Τα υπάρχοντά τους κατάσχονται.
27 Μαΐου 1914 - Οι Τουρκικές αρχές διατάζουν το χριστιανικό πληθυσμό της Περγάμου να εγκαταλείψουν τη πόλη μέσα σε δύο ώρες. Οι τρομοκρατημένοι κάτοικοι καταφεύγουν στη Μυτιλήνη.
Μάιος και Ιούνιος του 1914 - Οι Τούρκοι επιδίδονται σε όλες τις μορφές διωγμών που σαν στόχο έχουν τους Έλληνες της δυτικής Μικράς Ασίας. Τα παράλια της Μικράς Ασίας έχουν καταστραφεί. Στην Ερυθραία και στη Φωκαία οι Έλληνες σφαγιάζονται ανελέητα.
Ιούλιος και Αύγουστος 1914 - Η τουρκική κυβέρνηση δημιουργεί "τάγματα καταναγκαστικών έργων". Πρόκειται για μια νέα μέθοδο εξόντωσης των Ελλήνων - οθωμανών πολιτών που έχουν καταταγεί στον τουρκικό στρατό. Με τον τρόπο αυτό 400.000 Έλληνες εξοντώθηκαν από την πείνα και την κακοποίηση.
Αύγουστος του 1914 - 12.000 Ασσύριοι δολοφονούνται από τον Τζεβτέτ Χαλίλ Μπέι. Ο αριθμός των Ασσυρίων όλων των θρησκειών που έχουν δολοφονηθεί από τους Τούρκους από το 1895 ανέρχεται στις 424.000.
Σεπτέμβριος 1914 - Με διάταγμα της Τουρκικής κυβέρνησης πολλά χωριά της Ανατολικής Θράκης, όπου πλειοψηφεί το Ελληνικό στοιχείο, εκκενώνονται δια της βίας (Νεοχώριο, Γαλατάς, Καλλίπολη, κτλ.). Ακολουθούν λεηλασίες σε σπίτια και καταστήματα. Χιλιάδες αφήνουν τα πατρογονικά τους εδάφη και καταφεύγουν στην Ελλάδα.
Νοέμβριος - Δεκέμβριος 1914 - Με διάταγμα της Τουρκικής κυβέρνησης η περιοχή Βιζύη και μέρος της περιοχής Σαράντα Εκκλησιές εκκενώνονται. 19.000 Έλληνες εξορίζονται στην Ανατολία και οι περιουσίες τους λεηλατούνται. Σύμφωνα με τα αρχεία του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου 119.940 Έλληνες απελάθηκαν από την Ανατολική Θράκη.
Απρίλιος του 1915 - Το τουρκικό καθεστώς προχωρεί σε οργανωμένες συλλήψεις ενός μεγάλου αριθμού Αρμενίων διανοουμένων και εθνικών ηγετών στην Κωνσταντινούπολη και στις επαρχίες. Στη συνέχεια εκτοπίζονται στην Ανατόλια και καθοδόν σφαγιάζονται. Οι Αρμένιοι στρατιώτες που υπηρετούν στον τουρκικό στρατό αφοπλίζονται και σφαγιάζονται κατά χιλιάδες. Ο ανυπεράσπιστος αρμενικός πληθυσμός οδηγείται στην έρημο της Συρίας και σφαγιάζεται κατά δεκάδες χιλιάδες από τον τουρκικό στρατό, από άτακτα στρατεύματα και πολίτες ή αφήνεται στην έρημο για να πεθάνει από την ασιτία και την κακοποίηση. 1.500.000 Αρμένιοι εξαλείφθηκαν από τις τουρκιές θηριωδίες.
1915 - Οι Τούρκοι θέτουν σε εφαρμογή μια άγρια καταδίωξη κατά των Σύριων Ορθοδόξων και Νεστοριανών κατοίκων των περιοχών Χακάρι, Μαρντίν και Μιντιάτ. Από τα πρώτα θύματα της καταδίωξης είναι ο Αντάι Σερ, Αρχιεπίσκοπος του Σερτ. Η καμπάνια αυτή, γεμάτη σφαγές και καταστροφές, συνεχίστηκε έως το τέλος του Πρώτου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου, φτάνοντας σχεδόν στον στόχο της.

20 Αυγούστου 1915 έως 6 Μαΐου 1916 - Οι Οθωμανοί απαγχονίζουν 35 Λιβανέζους και Σύριους εθνικούς ηγέτες στις πλατείες Αλ Μπουρτζ του Λιβάνου και Αλ Μαρτζά της Συρίας, με την κατηγορία ότι "αγωνίζονται για την ελευθερία". 130.000 Λιβανέζοι και Σύριοι δολοφονούνται κάτω από τον Οθωμανικό ζυγό.
1916 - Οι Τούρκοι αναγκάζουν τους κατοίκους διαφόρων περιοχών του Πόντου να μεταναστεύσουν στο Σίβας. Κατά την παραπάνω μετακίνηση, από τους 16.750 κατοίκους των περιοχών Ελέβι και Τρίπολης, επέζησαν μόνον οι 550. Και από τους 49.520 κατοίκους της Τραπεζούντας, παρέμειναν ζωντανοί μόνο οι 20.300.
1916 - Καταστροφή της περιοχής Ρισέου-Πλατάνου του Πόντου. Λεηλασίες των πόλεων Οφίς, Σούρμενα και Γέμουρα. Οι λεηλασίες οργανώθηκαν από τους αξιωματούχους του Οθωμανικού κράτους και εκτελέστηκαν υπό την ηγεσία του Αχμέτ Μπέη και του στρατάρχη της περιοχής Βελίπ Πασά.
27 Δεκεμβρίου 1916 - Σύλληψη των διακεκριμένων πολιτών της Αμισού καθώς και 4.000 Ελλήνων πολιτών και εκτόπισή τους στην Ανατολία.
Άνοιξη του 1917 - Οι Τούρκοι διατάσσουν τον διωγμό 23.000 Ελλήνων, κατοίκων της Κυδωνίας.
Νοέμβριος του 1917 - 400 ελληνικές οικογένειες εκτοπίζονται από τους Τούρκους από τη Ν.Δ. Μικρά Ασία, ενώ λεηλατούνται οι περιουσίες τους.
Απρίλιος του 1918 - Άλλες 8000 ελληνικές οικογένειες εκτοπίζονται από τη Ν.Δ. Μικρά Ασία.
1920 - Ο Επίσκοπος της Τραπεζούντας Χρύσανθος, καταδικάζεται ερήμην σε θάνατο από το Στρατοδικείο της Άγκυρας. Καταδικάζεται επίσης και ο Επίσκοπος του Ζήλων ο οποίος αποδημεί στη φυλακή.
1920 - 30.000 Αρμένιοι σφαγιάζονται στην περιοχή του Κάρς από Κεμαλικούς.
Σεπτέμβριος 1920 - Η Κεμαλική Τουρκία επιτίθεται στην Δημοκρατία της Αρμενίας. Οι Αρμένιοι μάχονται ενάντια στα ισχυρά τουρκικά στρατεύματα. Οι Τούρκοι επικρατούν τη 2-12-1920. Τη νίκη αυτή των Τούρκων επακολουθεί η προσάρτηση του 50% της επικράτειας της Δημοκρατίας της Αρμενίας, που είχε συσταθεί στις 28 Μαΐου 1918, στη Τουρκία.
1920 έως 1921 - Άλλοι 50.000 Αρμένιοι εκτελούνται από Κεμαλικούς
3 Ιουνίου 1921 - Κεμαλικοί συλλαμβάνουν 1.320 επιφανείς Έλληνες κάτοικους της Σαμσούντας. Την επομένη δολοφονούν 701 από τους κρατούμενους. Τα θύματα θάβονται σε ομαδικό τάφο πίσω από την οικία του Μπεκίρ πασά. Οι υπόλοιποι των κρατουμένων εξορίζονται στο εσωτερικό της Ανατόλιας.
24 Αυγούστου 1922 - Ο Τουρκικός στρατός καταλαμβάνει τη Πέργαμο. Οι Έλληνες τρέπονται σε φυγή για να σωθούν.
9 Σεπτεμβρίου του 1922 - Οι Τούρκοι εισβάλλουν στη Σμύρνη και πυρπολούν την πόλη. Οργανώνονται μεγάλης έκτασης σφαγές κατά των Ελλήνων και των Αρμενίων. Δολοφονούνται περίπου 150.000 άτομα.

1822 - Νεά αντίποινα από τον Σουλτάνο για να τρομοκρατήσει τους χριστιανούς στο νησί της Χίου. Δολοφονούνται 50.000 Έλληνες.
1850 - 12.000 Αρμένιοι και Νεστοριανοί σφαγιάζονται από Κούρδους υπό την ηγεσία του Μπεντέρ Χαν Μπέγκ, οι οποίοι είναι οπλισμένοι με καραμπίνες, ειδικά κατασκευασμένες για την τουρκική κυβέρνηση και οι οποίοι χρηματοδοτούνται και υποστηρίζονται επίσης από την τουρκική κυβέρνηση.
7 Απριλίου του 1860 - Ο Σουλτάνος διατάζει την σφαγή των Μαρωνιτών χωρικών στον Λίβανο.
6 Ιουλίου 1860 - Σύριοι σφαγιάζονται μετά από διαταγή του Αχμέντ πασά. Ο αριθμός των σφαγιασθέντων συμπεριλαμβανομένων και των Μαρωνιτών του Λιβάνου στις 7 Απριλίου, ανέρχεται στις 11.000.
1876 - Εξαπολύονται συμμορίες Τούρκων...
για να καταπνίξουν εξέγερση στην Βουλγαρία. 15.000 σφαγιάζονται στην περιοχή της Φιλλιπούπολης, μεταξύ αυτών και Αρμένιοι της τοπικής κοινότητας. Καταστρέφονται 58 χωριά και 5 μοναστήρια.
28 Ιουνίου 1877 - Κατά την αποχώρηση των ρωσικών δυνάμεων, προς την λήξη του Ρωσο-τουρκικού πολέμου, πάνω από 6.000 Αρμένιοι δολοφονούνται, όταν ο τουρκικός στρατός και κουρδικές άτακτες ομάδες καταστρέφουν τα χριστιανικά χωριά της περιοχής.
4 Ιουνίου 1878 - Η Τουρκία πουλά τη Κύπρο στην Αγγλία.
Καλοκαίρι του 1892 - Σφαγιάζονται 8.000 Γιεζίδες κοντά στο Μοσούλ, και καίγονται τα χωριά τους διότι αρνούνται να ασπαστούν το Ισλαμ, μετά από εντολές του Φερίκ πασά.
Σεπτέμβριος του 1894 έως Αύγουστο του 1896 - Ο Σουλτάν Χαμίτ εφαρμόζει την τακτική της γενοκτονίας στους Αρμένιους.
Αύγουστος και Σεπτέμβριος του 1894 - 12.000 Αρμένιοι σκοτώνονται στο Σασούν.
Οκτώβριος του 1895 - Λαμβάνει χώρα η πρώτη οργανωμένη γενοκτονία στην Κωνσταντινούπολη και στην Τραπεζούντα.
Νοέμβριος και Δεκέμβριος του 1895 - Οι τουρκικές αρχές οργανώνουν μεγάλης έκτασης σφαγές σε όλη τη χώρα.
Ιούνιος του 1896 - Σφαγή των Αρμενίων της πόλης Βαν.
1896 - Σφαγή 300.000 Αρμενίων στην Κωνσταντινούπολη.
12 Μαΐου 1896 - Δολοφονίες 55.000 Ελλήνων και διαμάχες μεταξύ Ελλήνων και Τούρκων στην Κρήτη.
Μάρτιος του 1909 - Νέες σφαγές 30.000 Αρμενίων και Αμερικανών ιεραποστόλων, στα Άδανα και άλλες πόλεις της Κιλικίας, οργανωμένες από τους Νεότουκρους.
1909 - Οι Νεότουρκοι αντιμετωπίζουν την επανάσταση των Αράβων στην Υεμένη με αιματοχυσίες.
1 Οκτωβρίου 1911 - Δολοφονείται ο Επίσκοπος Γρεβενών, Αιμιλιανός από τους Τούρκους.
1912 - Ο τουρκικός στρατός κατά την υποχώρησή του από την ανατολική Θράκη, λεηλατεί τα χωριά της περιοχής του Διδυμοτείχου και της Ανδριανούπολης. Τα χωριά της περιοχής Μαλγάρα καίγονται. Το ίδιο συμβαίνει και στο Κεσσάνι. Δολοφονίες και σφαγές συνοδεύουν την καταστροφή και λεηλασία της ελληνικής αυτής περιοχής.
1913 - Η ανακατάληψη της ανατολικής Θράκης με τις θηριωδίες που ακολουθούν έχει ως αποτέλεσμα τη σφαγή 15.690 Ελλήνων.
Φεβρουάριος 1913 - Οι Έλληνες κάτοικοι της περιφέρειας Κριθέα της Ανατολικής Θράκης τρέπονται σε φυγή από τις Τουρκικές αρχές. Ακολουθούν βάρβαρες λεηλασίες.
Ιανουάριος έως Δεκέμβριος του 1914 - Πάνω από 250.000 Έλληνες εκτοπίζονται από τις περιοχές της ανατολικής Θράκης και Σμύρνης. Τα υπάρχοντά τους κατάσχονται.
27 Μαΐου 1914 - Οι Τουρκικές αρχές διατάζουν το χριστιανικό πληθυσμό της Περγάμου να εγκαταλείψουν τη πόλη μέσα σε δύο ώρες. Οι τρομοκρατημένοι κάτοικοι καταφεύγουν στη Μυτιλήνη.
Μάιος και Ιούνιος του 1914 - Οι Τούρκοι επιδίδονται σε όλες τις μορφές διωγμών που σαν στόχο έχουν τους Έλληνες της δυτικής Μικράς Ασίας. Τα παράλια της Μικράς Ασίας έχουν καταστραφεί. Στην Ερυθραία και στη Φωκαία οι Έλληνες σφαγιάζονται ανελέητα.
Ιούλιος και Αύγουστος 1914 - Η τουρκική κυβέρνηση δημιουργεί "τάγματα καταναγκαστικών έργων". Πρόκειται για μια νέα μέθοδο εξόντωσης των Ελλήνων - οθωμανών πολιτών που έχουν καταταγεί στον τουρκικό στρατό. Με τον τρόπο αυτό 400.000 Έλληνες εξοντώθηκαν από την πείνα και την κακοποίηση.
Αύγουστος του 1914 - 12.000 Ασσύριοι δολοφονούνται από τον Τζεβτέτ Χαλίλ Μπέι. Ο αριθμός των Ασσυρίων όλων των θρησκειών που έχουν δολοφονηθεί από τους Τούρκους από το 1895 ανέρχεται στις 424.000.
Σεπτέμβριος 1914 - Με διάταγμα της Τουρκικής κυβέρνησης πολλά χωριά της Ανατολικής Θράκης, όπου πλειοψηφεί το Ελληνικό στοιχείο, εκκενώνονται δια της βίας (Νεοχώριο, Γαλατάς, Καλλίπολη, κτλ.). Ακολουθούν λεηλασίες σε σπίτια και καταστήματα. Χιλιάδες αφήνουν τα πατρογονικά τους εδάφη και καταφεύγουν στην Ελλάδα.
Νοέμβριος - Δεκέμβριος 1914 - Με διάταγμα της Τουρκικής κυβέρνησης η περιοχή Βιζύη και μέρος της περιοχής Σαράντα Εκκλησιές εκκενώνονται. 19.000 Έλληνες εξορίζονται στην Ανατολία και οι περιουσίες τους λεηλατούνται. Σύμφωνα με τα αρχεία του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου 119.940 Έλληνες απελάθηκαν από την Ανατολική Θράκη.
Απρίλιος του 1915 - Το τουρκικό καθεστώς προχωρεί σε οργανωμένες συλλήψεις ενός μεγάλου αριθμού Αρμενίων διανοουμένων και εθνικών ηγετών στην Κωνσταντινούπολη και στις επαρχίες. Στη συνέχεια εκτοπίζονται στην Ανατόλια και καθοδόν σφαγιάζονται. Οι Αρμένιοι στρατιώτες που υπηρετούν στον τουρκικό στρατό αφοπλίζονται και σφαγιάζονται κατά χιλιάδες. Ιανουάριος έως Δεκέμβριος του 1914 - Πάνω από 250.000 Έλληνες εκτοπίζονται από τις περιοχές της ανατολικής Θράκης και Σμύρνης. Τα υπάρχοντά τους κατάσχονται.
27 Μαΐου 1914 - Οι Τουρκικές αρχές διατάζουν το χριστιανικό πληθυσμό της Περγάμου να εγκαταλείψουν τη πόλη μέσα σε δύο ώρες. Οι τρομοκρατημένοι κάτοικοι καταφεύγουν στη Μυτιλήνη.
Μάιος και Ιούνιος του 1914 - Οι Τούρκοι επιδίδονται σε όλες τις μορφές διωγμών που σαν στόχο έχουν τους Έλληνες της δυτικής Μικράς Ασίας. Τα παράλια της Μικράς Ασίας έχουν καταστραφεί. Στην Ερυθραία και στη Φωκαία οι Έλληνες σφαγιάζονται ανελέητα.
Ιούλιος και Αύγουστος 1914 - Η τουρκική κυβέρνηση δημιουργεί "τάγματα καταναγκαστικών έργων". Πρόκειται για μια νέα μέθοδο εξόντωσης των Ελλήνων - οθωμανών πολιτών που έχουν καταταγεί στον τουρκικό στρατό. Με τον τρόπο αυτό 400.000 Έλληνες εξοντώθηκαν από την πείνα και την κακοποίηση.
Αύγουστος του 1914 - 12.000 Ασσύριοι δολοφονούνται από τον Τζεβτέτ Χαλίλ Μπέι. Ο αριθμός των Ασσυρίων όλων των θρησκειών που έχουν δολοφονηθεί από τους Τούρκους από το 1895 ανέρχεται στις 424.000.
Σεπτέμβριος 1914 - Με διάταγμα της Τουρκικής κυβέρνησης πολλά χωριά της Ανατολικής Θράκης, όπου πλειοψηφεί το Ελληνικό στοιχείο, εκκενώνονται δια της βίας (Νεοχώριο, Γαλατάς, Καλλίπολη, κτλ.). Ακολουθούν λεηλασίες σε σπίτια και καταστήματα. Χιλιάδες αφήνουν τα πατρογονικά τους εδάφη και καταφεύγουν στην Ελλάδα.
Νοέμβριος - Δεκέμβριος 1914 - Με διάταγμα της Τουρκικής κυβέρνησης η περιοχή Βιζύη και μέρος της περιοχής Σαράντα Εκκλησιές εκκενώνονται. 19.000 Έλληνες εξορίζονται στην Ανατολία και οι περιουσίες τους λεηλατούνται. Σύμφωνα με τα αρχεία του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου 119.940 Έλληνες απελάθηκαν από την Ανατολική Θράκη.
Απρίλιος του 1915 - Το τουρκικό καθεστώς προχωρεί σε οργανωμένες συλλήψεις ενός μεγάλου αριθμού Αρμενίων διανοουμένων και εθνικών ηγετών στην Κωνσταντινούπολη και στις επαρχίες. Στη συνέχεια εκτοπίζονται στην Ανατόλια και καθοδόν σφαγιάζονται. Οι Αρμένιοι στρατιώτες που υπηρετούν στον τουρκικό στρατό αφοπλίζονται και σφαγιάζονται κατά χιλιάδες. Ο ανυπεράσπιστος αρμενικός πληθυσμός οδηγείται στην έρημο της Συρίας και σφαγιάζεται κατά δεκάδες χιλιάδες από τον τουρκικό στρατό, από άτακτα στρατεύματα και πολίτες ή αφήνεται στην έρημο για να πεθάνει από την ασιτία και την κακοποίηση. 1.500.000 Αρμένιοι εξαλείφθηκαν από τις τουρκιές θηριωδίες.
1915 - Οι Τούρκοι θέτουν σε εφαρμογή μια άγρια καταδίωξη κατά των Σύριων Ορθοδόξων και Νεστοριανών κατοίκων των περιοχών Χακάρι, Μαρντίν και Μιντιάτ. Από τα πρώτα θύματα της καταδίωξης είναι ο Αντάι Σερ, Αρχιεπίσκοπος του Σερτ. Η καμπάνια αυτή, γεμάτη σφαγές και καταστροφές, συνεχίστηκε έως το τέλος του Πρώτου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου, φτάνοντας σχεδόν στον στόχο της.

20 Αυγούστου 1915 έως 6 Μαΐου 1916 - Οι Οθωμανοί απαγχονίζουν 35 Λιβανέζους και Σύριους εθνικούς ηγέτες στις πλατείες Αλ Μπουρτζ του Λιβάνου και Αλ Μαρτζά της Συρίας, με την κατηγορία ότι "αγωνίζονται για την ελευθερία". 130.000 Λιβανέζοι και Σύριοι δολοφονούνται κάτω από τον Οθωμανικό ζυγό.
1916 - Οι Τούρκοι αναγκάζουν τους κατοίκους διαφόρων περιοχών του Πόντου να μεταναστεύσουν στο Σίβας. Κατά την παραπάνω μετακίνηση, από τους 16.750 κατοίκους των περιοχών Ελέβι και Τρίπολης, επέζησαν μόνον οι 550. Και από τους 49.520 κατοίκους της Τραπεζούντας, παρέμειναν ζωντανοί μόνο οι 20.300.
1916 - Καταστροφή της περιοχής Ρισέου-Πλατάνου του Πόντου. Λεηλασίες των πόλεων Οφίς, Σούρμενα και Γέμουρα. Οι λεηλασίες οργανώθηκαν από τους αξιωματούχους του Οθωμανικού κράτους και εκτελέστηκαν υπό την ηγεσία του Αχμέτ Μπέη και του στρατάρχη της περιοχής Βελίπ Πασά.
27 Δεκεμβρίου 1916 - Σύλληψη των διακεκριμένων πολιτών της Αμισού καθώς και 4.000 Ελλήνων πολιτών και εκτόπισή τους στην Ανατολία.
Άνοιξη του 1917 - Οι Τούρκοι διατάσσουν τον διωγμό 23.000 Ελλήνων, κατοίκων της Κυδωνίας.
Νοέμβριος του 1917 - 400 ελληνικές οικογένειες εκτοπίζονται από τους Τούρκους από τη Ν.Δ. Μικρά Ασία, ενώ λεηλατούνται οι περιουσίες τους.
Απρίλιος του 1918 - Άλλες 8000 ελληνικές οικογένειες εκτοπίζονται από τη Ν.Δ. Μικρά Ασία.
1920 - Ο Επίσκοπος της Τραπεζούντας Χρύσανθος, καταδικάζεται ερήμην σε θάνατο από το Στρατοδικείο της Άγκυρας. Καταδικάζεται επίσης και ο Επίσκοπος του Ζήλων ο οποίος αποδημεί στη φυλακή.
1920 - 30.000 Αρμένιοι σφαγιάζονται στην περιοχή του Κάρς από Κεμαλικούς.
Σεπτέμβριος 1920 - Η Κεμαλική Τουρκία επιτίθεται στην Δημοκρατία της Αρμενίας. Οι Αρμένιοι μάχονται ενάντια στα ισχυρά τουρκικά στρατεύματα. Οι Τούρκοι επικρατούν τη 2-12-1920. Τη νίκη αυτή των Τούρκων επακολουθεί η προσάρτηση του 50% της επικράτειας της Δημοκρατίας της Αρμενίας, που είχε συσταθεί στις 28 Μαΐου 1918, στη Τουρκία.
1920 έως 1921 - Άλλοι 50.000 Αρμένιοι εκτελούνται από Κεμαλικούς
3 Ιουνίου 1921 - Κεμαλικοί συλλαμβάνουν 1.320 επιφανείς Έλληνες κάτοικους της Σαμσούντας. Την επομένη δολοφονούν 701 από τους κρατούμενους. Τα θύματα θάβονται σε ομαδικό τάφο πίσω από την οικία του Μπεκίρ πασά. Οι υπόλοιποι των κρατουμένων εξορίζονται στο εσωτερικό της Ανατόλιας.
24 Αυγούστου 1922 - Ο Τουρκικός στρατός καταλαμβάνει τη Πέργαμο. Οι Έλληνες τρέπονται σε φυγή για να σωθούν.
9 Σεπτεμβρίου του 1922 - Οι Τούρκοι εισβάλλουν στη Σμύρνη και πυρπολούν την πόλη. Οργανώνονται μεγάλης έκτασης σφαγές κατά των Ελλήνων και των Αρμενίων. Δολοφονούνται περίπου 150.000 άτομα.

1822 - Νεά αντίποινα από τον Σουλτάνο για να τρομοκρατήσει τους χριστιανούς στο νησί της Χίου. Δολοφονούνται 50.000 Έλληνες.
1850 - 12.000 Αρμένιοι και Νεστοριανοί σφαγιάζονται από Κούρδους υπό την ηγεσία του Μπεντέρ Χαν Μπέγκ, οι οποίοι είναι οπλισμένοι με καραμπίνες, ειδικά κατασκευασμένες για την τουρκική κυβέρνηση και οι οποίοι χρηματοδοτούνται και υποστηρίζονται επίσης από την τουρκική κυβέρνηση.
7 Απριλίου του 1860 - Ο Σουλτάνος διατάζει την σφαγή των Μαρωνιτών χωρικών στον Λίβανο.
6 Ιουλίου 1860 - Σύριοι σφαγιάζονται μετά από διαταγή του Αχμέντ πασά. Ο αριθμός των σφαγιασθέντων συμπεριλαμβανομένων και των Μαρωνιτών του Λιβάνου στις 7 Απριλίου, ανέρχεται στις 11.000.
1876 - Εξαπολύονται συμμορίες Τούρκων...
για να καταπνίξουν εξέγερση στην Βουλγαρία. 15.000 σφαγιάζονται στην περιοχή της Φιλλιπούπολης, μεταξύ αυτών και Αρμένιοι της τοπικής κοινότητας. Καταστρέφονται 58 χωριά και 5 μοναστήρια.
28 Ιουνίου 1877 - Κατά την αποχώρηση των ρωσικών δυνάμεων, προς την λήξη του Ρωσο-τουρκικού πολέμου, πάνω από 6.000 Αρμένιοι δολοφονούνται, όταν ο τουρκικός στρατός και κουρδικές άτακτες ομάδες καταστρέφουν τα χριστιανικά χωριά της περιοχής.
4 Ιουνίου 1878 - Η Τουρκία πουλά τη Κύπρο στην Αγγλία.
Καλοκαίρι του 1892 - Σφαγιάζονται 8.000 Γιεζίδες κοντά στο Μοσούλ, και καίγονται τα χωριά τους διότι αρνούνται να ασπαστούν το Ισλαμ, μετά από εντολές του Φερίκ πασά.
Σεπτέμβριος του 1894 έως Αύγουστο του 1896 - Ο Σουλτάν Χαμίτ εφαρμόζει την τακτική της γενοκτονίας στους Αρμένιους.
Αύγουστος και Σεπτέμβριος του 1894 - 12.000 Αρμένιοι σκοτώνονται στο Σασούν.
Οκτώβριος του 1895 - Λαμβάνει χώρα η πρώτη οργανωμένη γενοκτονία στην Κωνσταντινούπολη και στην Τραπεζούντα.
Νοέμβριος και Δεκέμβριος του 1895 - Οι τουρκικές αρχές οργανώνουν μεγάλης έκτασης σφαγές σε όλη τη χώρα.
Ιούνιος του 1896 - Σφαγή των Αρμενίων της πόλης Βαν.
1896 - Σφαγή 300.000 Αρμενίων στην Κωνσταντινούπολη.
12 Μαΐου 1896 - Δολοφονίες 55.000 Ελλήνων και διαμάχες μεταξύ Ελλήνων και Τούρκων στην Κρήτη.
Μάρτιος του 1909 - Νέες σφαγές 30.000 Αρμενίων και Αμερικανών ιεραποστόλων, στα Άδανα και άλλες πόλεις της Κιλικίας, οργανωμένες από τους Νεότουκρους.
1909 - Οι Νεότουρκοι αντιμετωπίζουν την επανάσταση των Αράβων στην Υεμένη με αιματοχυσίες.
1 Οκτωβρίου 1911 - Δολοφονείται ο Επίσκοπος Γρεβενών, Αιμιλιανός από τους Τούρκους.
1912 - Ο τουρκικός στρατός κατά την υποχώρησή του από την ανατολική Θράκη, λεηλατεί τα χωριά της περιοχής του Διδυμοτείχου και της Ανδριανούπολης. Τα χωριά της περιοχής Μαλγάρα καίγονται. Το ίδιο συμβαίνει και στο Κεσσάνι. Δολοφονίες και σφαγές συνοδεύουν την καταστροφή και λεηλασία της ελληνικής αυτής περιοχής.
1913 - Η ανακατάληψη της ανατολικής Θράκης με τις θηριωδίες που ακολουθούν έχει ως αποτέλεσμα τη σφαγή 15.690 Ελλήνων.
Φεβρουάριος 1913 - Οι Έλληνες κάτοικοι της περιφέρειας Κριθέα της Ανατολικής Θράκης τρέπονται σε φυγή από τις Τουρκικές αρχές. Ακολουθούν βάρβαρες λεηλασίες.

Invariably, explanations of historical events are simple yet diabolical. Moreover behind the scenes, those who understand such things believe the following to be quite true:

Moreover, the periodic crashes of markets that uninformed and dishonest sources tell us are beyond the ken or influence of individuals or groups are an integral part of this process. In short: modern financial markets are manipulated by dark forces and do not move or crash without the knowledge of these Secret Masters. Moreover, the ignorant masses are merely pawns in the Great Game, which is an Ancient Evil Plan to Transform Society. In other words, it is the Ancient Dream of the Secret Societies, their "Ancient Hope," their "Big Idea of the New World Order" under their spiritual leader, the New Age Christ … The Antichrist … who is verily one of the Two Beasts described by John the Divine in the Book of Revelation.
Although the New World Order has been called various names, such as the "Ancient Hope," World Government, Global Governance, Internationalism and Globalism, they are all ultimately the Kingdom of Antichrist. Stalin could have said that the other one-third of large industrial enterprises were built by firms from Germany, France, Britain and Italy. Stalin could have said also that the tank plants, the aircraft plants, the explosive and ammunition plants originated in the US. That was June 1944. The massive technical assistance continues right down to the present day … There is a Soviet military-industrial complex just as there is an American military-industrial complex … So let's take a look at the Soviet industry that provides the parts and the materials for Soviet armaments: the guns, tanks, aircraft. The Soviets have the largest iron and steel plant in the world. It was built by McKee Corporation. It is a copy of the US Steel plant in Gary, Indiana. All Soviet iron and steel technology comes from the US and its allies. The Soviets use open hearth, American electric furnaces, American wide strip mills, Sendzimir mills and so on — all developed in the West and shipped in as peaceful trade. The Soviets have the largest merchant marine in the world — about 6,000 ships. I have the specifications for each ship. About two-thirds were built outside the Soviet Union. About four-fifths of the engines for these ships were also built outside the Soviet Union. There are no ship engines of Soviet design. Those built inside the USSR are built with foreign technical assistance. The Bryansk plant makes the largest marine diesels. In 1959, the Bryansk plant made a technical assistance agreement with Burmeister & Wain of Copenhagen, Denmark, (a NATO ally), approved as peaceful trade by the State Dept. The ships that carried Soviet missiles to Cuba ten years ago used these same Burmeister and Wain engines. The ships were in the POLTAVA class. Some have Danish engines made in Denmark and some have Danish engines made at Bryansk in the Soviet Union. About 100 Soviet ships are used on the Haiphong run to carry Soviet weapons and supplies for Hanoi's annual aggression. I was able to identify 84 of these ships. None of the main engines in these ships was designed and manufactured inside the USSR. All the larger and faster vessels on the Haiphong run were built outside the USSR. All shipbuilding technology in the USSR comes directly or indirectly from the US or its NATO allies…. All Soviet automobile, truck and engine technology comes from the West: chiefly the United States … The Soviet military has over 300,000 trucks — all from these US built plants. Up to 1968 the largest motor vehicle plant in the USSR was at Gorki. Gorki produces many of the trucks American pilots see on the Ho Chi Minh trail. Gorki produces the chassis for the GAZ-69 rocket launcher used against Israel. Gorki produces the Soviet jeep and half a dozen other military vehicles. And Gorki was built by the Ford Motor Company and the Austin Company … In 1968 while Gorki was building vehicles to be used in Vietnam and Israel further equipment for Gorki was ordered and shipped from the US. Also in 1968 we had the so-called "FIAT deal" — to build a plant at Volgograd three times bigger than Gorki. Dean Rusk and Wait Rostow told Congress and the American public this was peaceful trade — the FIAT plant could not produce military vehicles…. Any automobile manufacturing plant can produce military vehicles … The term "FIAT deal" is misleading. FIAT in Italy doesn't make automobile manufacturing equipment — FIAT plants in Italy have US equipment. FIAT did send 1,000 men to Russia for erection of the plant — but over half, perhaps well over half, of the equipment came from the United States. From Gleason, TRW of Cleveland and New Britain Machine Co. So in the middle of a war that has killed 46,000 Americans (so far) and countless Vietnamese with Soviet weapons and supplies, the Johnson Administration doubled Soviet auto output. And supplied false information to Congress and the American public. [In 1972] under President Nixon... the Soviets are receiving equipment and technology for the largest heavy truck plant in the world: known as the Kama plant. It will produce 100,000 heavy ten-ton trucks per year — that's more than ALL US manufacturers put together. This will also be the largest plant in the world, period. It will occupy 36 square miles … The Kama truck will be 50 per cent more productive than the ZIL-130 truck … the ZIL series trucks are standard Soviet army trucks used in Vietnam and the Middle East. Who built the ZIL plant? It was built by the Arthur J. Brandt Company of Detroit, Michigan. Who's building the Kama truck plant? That's classified "secret" by the Washington policy makers. I don't have to tell you why. The Soviet T-54 tank is in Vietnam … It is in use today in Vietnam. It has been used against Israel. According to the tank handbooks the T-54 has a Christie type suspension. Christie was an American inventor. Where did the Soviets get a Christie suspension? Did they steal it? No, sir! They bought it. They bought it from the US Wheel Track Layer Corporation …. Of course, it takes a great deal of self confidence to admit you are sending factories to produce weapons and supplies to a country providing weapons and supplies to kill Americans, Israelis and Vietnamese. More to the point — by what authority does this Administration undertake such policies?
Many people — as individuals — have protested our suicidal policies. What happens? Well, if you are in Congress — you probably get the strong arm put on you. The Congressman who inserted my research findings into the Congressional Record suddenly found himself with primary opposition. He won't be in Congress next year. If you are in the academic world — you soon find it's OK to protest US assistance to the South Vietnamese but never, never protest US assistance to the Soviets. Forget about the Russian academics being persecuted — we mustn't say unkind things about the Soviets. If you press for an explanation what do they tell you? First, you get the Fulbright line. This is peaceful trade. The Soviets are powerful. They have their own technology. It's a way to build friendship. It's a way to a new world order. This is demonstrably false … Second, if you don't buy that line you are told, "The Soviets are mellowing." This is equally false …. No one has ever presented evidence, hard evidence that trade leads to peace. Why not? Because there is no such evidence. It's an illusion. It is true that peace leads to trade. But that's not the same thing. You first need peace, then you trade. That does not mean if you trade you will get peace … Trade with Germany doubled before World War II. Did it stop World War II? Trade with Japan increased before World War II. Did it stop World War II?
What was in this German and Japanese trade? The same means for war that we are now supplying the Soviets. The Japanese Air Force after 1934. depended on US technology. And much of the pushing for Soviet trade today comes from the same groups that were pushing for trade with Hitler and Tojo' 35 years ago. The Russian Communist Party is not mellowing. Concentration camps are still there. The mental hospitals take the overload. Persecution of the Baptists continues. Harassment of Jews continues, as it did under the Tsars. The only mellowing is when a Harriman and a Rockefeller get together with the bosses in the Kremlin. That's good for business but it's not much help if you are a G.I. at the other end of a Soviet rocket in Vietnam … 100,000 Americans have been killed in Korea and Vietnam-by our own technology. The only response from Washington and the Nixon Administration is the effort to hush up the scandal. These are things not to be talked about. And the professional smokescreen about peaceful trade continues. The plain fact — if you want it — is that irresponsible policies have built us an enemy and maintain that enemy in the business of totalitarian rule and world conquest. And the tragedy is that intelligent people have bought the political double talk about world peace, a new world order and mellowing Soviets… You do not subsidize an enemy [or go] along with a policy of subsidizing the killing of… fellow Americans. It requires a peculiar kind of intellectual myopia to ship supplies and technology to the Soviets when they are instrumental in killing fellow citizens … we've had US-Soviet trade for 52 years. The 1st and 2nd Five Year Plans were built by American companies. To continue a policy that is a total failure is to gamble with the lives of several million Americans and countless allies.
You can't stoke up the Soviet military machine at one end and then complain that the other end came back and bit you. tune …. Let me summarize my conclusions:
One: trade with the USSR was started over 50 years ago under President Woodrow Wilson with the declared intention of mellowing the Bolsheviks. The policy has been a total and costly failure. It has proven to be impractical — this is what I would expect from an immoral policy.
Two: we have built ourselves an enemy. We keep that self-declared enemy in business. This information has been blacked out by successive Administrations. Misleading and untruthful statements have been made by the Executive Branch to Congress and the American people.
Three: our policy of subsidizing self-declared enemies is neither rational nor moral. I have drawn attention to the intellectual myopia of the group that influences and draws up foreign policy. I suggest these policies have no authority.
Four: the annual attacks in Vietnam and the war in the Middle East were made possible only by Russian armaments and our past assistance to the Soviets.
Five: this worldwide Soviet activity is consistent with Communist theory. Mikhail Suslov, the party theoretician, recently stated that the current detente with the United States is temporary. The purpose of the detente, according to Suslov, is to give the Soviets sufficient strength for a renewed assault on the West. In other words, when you've finished building the Kama plant and the trucks come rolling off — watch out for another Vietnam.
Six: internal Soviet repression continues — against Baptists, against Jews, against national groups and against dissident academics.
Seven: Soviet technical dependence is a powerful instrument for world peace if we want to use it.
So far it's been used as an aid-to-dependent-Soviets welfare program. With about as much success as the domestic welfare program. Why should they stop supplying Hanoi? The more they stoke up the war the more they get from the United States. One final thought. Why has the war in Vietnam continued for four long years under this Administration? With 15,000 killed under the Nixon Administration? We can stop the Soviets and their friends in Hanoi anytime we want to. Without using a single gun or anything more dangerous than a piece of paper or a telephone call. We have Soviet technical dependence as an instrument of world peace. The most humane weapon that can be conceived. We have always had that option. We have never used it."
Anthony Sutton (1925-2002), British born former professor of economics at California State University at Los Angeles. Sutton charges that 100,000 Americans were killed in Korea and Vietnam with American technology supplied to the Soviets by private US corporations. In fact, Sutton suggest that Western corporations using Western technology and Western capital but predominantly US taxpayers' monies, had created the entire Soviet military-industrial complex. In fact, the West, especially the US, has channelled billons of dollars into Soviet Russia, what Ronald Reagan when President called the "Evil Empire," and by doing so had created "The Best Enemy Money Can Buy." If this is the case, then the common perception held by the masses that the capitalist West and the Communist East were mortal enemies in perpetual "Cold War" appears somewhat remiss, which to any competent student of Proper History it is. These Proper Students of History -who understand the Way of the World- know that Communism is a creation of Capital, that it is a creature of International Usury, a tool of the Invisible Money Power. Moreover, that if left to its own devices, Communism would have been stillborn in its cradle if it was not given massive, covert support by the very things naïve students and other immature idealists believe Communism was bent upon destroying ... International bankers and their lackeys.
Communism is the "Left" arm of the Hegelian Dialectic using ideology to help bring about a feudal World Empire: the "Right" arm is Corporatism or Fascism. Both these apparent contradictions and mutual enemies are in fact creatures of the International Usurers and the so-called super rich capitalists. These men are the Power Elite, the Global Elite, the Globalists who control the Anglo-American Establishment, the Liberal Establishment, which in turn controls much of the temporal affairs of this world. The world is very different than presented in the controlled histories and mass media. International Usury controls Communism and controlled German Fascism (Nazis), Communism in Russia and China would have imploded long ago if it were not for the massive subsidygiven to it by treacherous deals. Moreover, the so-called "Cold War" was a myth perpetuated to keep the masses in a state of fear as well as providing the wherewithal to extract grotesque amounts of taxpayers monies for "security" and "military purposes."

Nixon: "All the Jews are bad [but most are left-wing radicals who want] peace at any price except where support for Israel is concerned. The best Jews are actually the Israeli Jews."

Graham: "And they're the ones putting out the pornographic stuff."
Haldeman: "[The White House press corps and the Gridiron Club, a bastion of the media establishment, were mostly WASP once, but no more] It was the Merriman Smiths, the Dick Wilsons, the [James] Kilpatricks, all that kind of people. But you look at what covers the president today and it's really kind of scary."
Graham: "But I have to lean a little bit, you know. I go and see friend of Mr Rosenthal at The New York Times, and people of that sort. And all, I don't mean all the Jews, but a lot of the Jews are great friends of mine. They swarm around me and are friendly to me. Because they know I am friendly to Israel and so forth. They don't know how I really feel about what they're doing to this country."
Nixon: "You must not let them know."

Nixon: "You know it was good we got this point about the Jews across."
Haldeman: "It's a shocking point."
Nixon: "Well, it's also, the Jews are irreligious, atheistic, immoral bunch of bastards."
Part of the 3,700 hours of tape recordings of Oval Office meetings released by the National Archives. Many recordings, including the "Graham tape" discussing Jews and the Jewish Lobby and their power and influence in American life are heavily censored. Supposedly to exclude content believed to disclose matters of "national security" or those that "strictly personal," or clearly constitute a unwarranted invasion of privacy or reveal "trade secrets." This is a 90 minute taped session in the Oval Office between President Richard M Nixon, Rev. Billy Graham and H John Haldeman (1926-93), Nixon's chief of staff, after a prayer breakfast the men attended on Feb. 1, 1972. Haldeman, in his diaries, noted that the conversation was a discussion: "of the terrible problem arising from the total Jewish domination of the media, and agreement that this was something that would have to be dealt with … Graham has the strong feeling that the Bible says there are satanic Jews and there's where our problem arises." "General Shkuro and his Ukrainian Cossack troops had long been known to be anti-Bolsheviks. Gen Shkuro, himself, had emigrated after World War I and had never been a Soviet citizen. He felt he was safe from repatriation. The Cossacks had fought for Germany and surrendered to British troops. They demanded political asylum for which they easily qualified. The British confiscated all their Western currency and held them in detention. They were told on May 28 that all officers and enlisted men were to attend a conference with higher British authorities, and would be transported by truck. This seemed implausible. Why transport everyone in trucks when the British could come to them? When the Cossacks started to feel nervous about the destination, an English Lieutenant said, 'I assure you on my word of honor as a British officer that you are just going to a conference.' Another British officer gave the same assurance. The convoy was guarded, which did nothing to alleviate the Cossack's anxiety. A few jumped from the trucks and escaped into the forest. They were the smart ones. Those that trusted the British ended up at a prisoner of war camp in Spittal, Austria [in the Russian sector of control]. A British officer then informed them that, 'in accordance with an agreement concluded between the military authorities of the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union, all officers will be put at the disposal of Soviet military authorities.' A Cossack General asked the officer when the agreement was signed. He replied, 'On May 23 of this year [1945].' ... [One Cossack officer remarked] 'The NKVD or the Gestapo would have slain us with truncheons, the British did it with their word of honor.'"
Julius Epstein: One of the most heinous acts in the Second World War was carried out not by the "morally bankrupt" Nazis but by the Allies, the "paragons of moral virtues" in a series of acts code named "Operation Keelhaul" ... terrible acts that today are still concealed from public scrutiny by being "classified" to this day. Epstein was a researcher for the tardy Congressional investigation of the US State Department's cover-up of Bolshevik involvement in the mass murder of Polish military officers and intelligentsia at Katyn Forest. During his researches of military archives he discovered evidence of a top secret programme of forced repatriation, called "Operation Keelhaul," which is still classified to this day. To people of the time and in the received history of World War II, the Allied powers of America and Britain represented the highest ideals of liberty and freedom in a world labouring under Nazi or Communist domination. The Allies had prosecuted the war against the Axis Powers of Germany, Italy and Japan by proclaiming that it was a Just War and they were the "just." Moreover, the subsequent accepted history -the history of the victors- relates this posture. Yet, in the turmoil of war and the murky business of power-politics many events cast this accepted history in doubt. The pose was reinforced by the events surrounding the Nuremberg Trails when the surviving Nazi hierarchy were publicly vilified for their evil deeds, many of whom were hanged for them: And rightly so. Yet, during all this high theatre, the world's attention was turned away from some acts that, using the very same standards applied to the Nazis, would have meant many Allied leaders and soldiers tried for war crimes and "crimes against humanity." This, of course, was not the case. One of the most shameful involved the forced repatriation of hundreds of thousands of freedom-loving Russians fleeing the Bolshevik tyranny back to the Evil Empire of Soviet Russia. This was called "Operation Keelhaul."
Cynicism pervades "Operation Keelhaul" beginning with its very name. It is so shameful that it is called by some who understand what was involved as "Britain's dirty little secret," what Alexander Solzhenitsyn called the "last secret" of World War II, since it violated every tenet of decency and justice. Its source was the Yalta Conference where it was agreed that the Allies would return all "Soviet citizens" that may find themselves in the Allied zone back to the bosom of the Evil Empire of Soviet Russia and the cruel embrace of "Uncle Joe" Stalin. Maintaining the moral high ground, the Allies had signed international agreements opposing forced repatriation, and made public statements assuring the war-weary world they would never countenance such actions. Yet, inserted in these agreements, in the fine print so to speak, was a caveat: all those who originated from nations given over to the Soviets at the close of WWII were excepted from this concordance. This not only affected the Soviet prisoners of war liberated by the Allies but also all other persons. Even those refugees that had fled West after World War I who had already assimilated into Western society were also driven back into "Uncle Joe" Stalin's concentration camps. The policy of forced repatriation was such an appalling policy, so repugnant to all right-thinking people, that Winston Churchill, he who did most to preserve Western Christian Civilisation, felt it prudent to omit any reference to it in his Nobel Prize-winning history of World War II.
Europe immediately after World War II was in turmoil and millions of people were refugees and stateless and hundreds of thousands of these (included assorted fascists, collaborationists, anti-Communists and civilians, both from the Soviet Union and from Yugoslavia) fled westward believing they would be saved from the tyranny of Communism by the "just" Allies. Included in these refugee columns fleeing the newly conquered eastern Europe were tens of thousands of Eastern Germans, and almost a million anti-Communist Russian soldiers under Russian General Vlasov who had defected to the Germans believing they would help to free Russia from the Bolshevik tyranny and 28,000 Cossack Corps of General Domanov and 40000 Ustaše from Yugoslavia of which 11,000 of them were women and children. These had all fled the advancing Soviet armies in order to find a safe haven in the West and protection under the Geneva Convention. General Vlasov and General Domanov were soon disabused of this notion of sanctuary. Although the Allied military leaders explicitly guaranteed that Gen. Vlasov's men would never be turned back over to the Bolshevik but General Eisenhower, in consultation with the mandarins in the US State Department, renegade on their promise. They were refused POW status or to give them asylum, eventually turning them over to the Bolsheviks. All their leaders were shot or hanged and the rest sent to Soviet labour camps where many died while some knowing what fate awaited them committed suicide before falling into Bolshevik hands. General Domanov's people encamped in the valley of the river Drau near the town of Lienz in Austria believing themselves safe were rudely made aware of their predicament. On May 27th 1945, the British ordered all Cossack officers to turn in their pistols. On the morning of May 28th all officers, military officials, and medics were ordered to trucks to be moved according to directives from the British General. As soon as the truck convoy, carrying over 2,000 officers and officials got under way, it was surrounded by British tanks and escorted to its destination. Twenty-four hours later, all these prisoners were handed over to the Bolsheviks. It is unknown exactly how many reached the Soviet Union. Many Cossacks committed suicide while many others were killed by the British guards while attempting an escape. Some were executed in transit to the Soviet Zone. Only five persons were able to escape to tell this dark tale. In the evening of May 29th, British trucks equipped with loud speakers drove to where the Cossack regiments were camping and told them to get ready to be "voluntarily repatriated" into the Soviet Union. This announcement was repeated on May 30th and May 31st. The Cossacks refused and protested by declaring a hunger strike and hoisted black banners. On the morning of June 1st, the Cossacks, en masse, were at prayer to God and during this Liturgy the British surrounded the camp with tanks and soldiers armed with machine guns while on the nearby railroad a long train of freight cars pulled up awaiting the Cossacks. Seeing that the people did not discontinue their prayers, a volley was fired into the air followed by a charge into the defenceless people sitting down on the ground, refusing to board the trucks. Brutal tactics were used to move the mass of Cossacks onto the trucks. Many were rendered unconscious by gun butts and clubs, many of them with broken limbs were dump like logs on the trucks, many, mainly children, were trampled to death in the tumult. Those Cossacks who regained consciousness and jumped off were beaten until they fainted and thrown back on the trucks again. Many Cossacks and their wives committed suicide preferring death rather then deportation to the Bolshevik tyranny, which had once been Mother Russia. Between May 29th and June 3rd 1945, 45,000 Russians were handed over to the Bolsheviks to suffer unknown terrors and violent revenge for their temerity to wish to live in freedom.
William Robert Alderson was a 19-year old British POW who carried out one of the most daring wartime escapes. He had been captured at Dunkirk in 1940 but managed to escape twice finally making good his escape in the final months of the war. He walked over 1,000 miles pulling a sledge from Czechoslovakia to Odessa were he was taken prisoner by the Soviet Russians but escaped yet again. He was repatriated back to Britain after war's end but when he tried to publish his memoir The Long Road Back the British Government told him he could not! Why this heavy official censorship? Because, gentle reader, it contained his eyewitness account of the effects of "Operation Keelhaul," the forced return of the Cossacks: who upon disembarkation from the first of many prison ships docking in Odessa, he saw lined up and summarily shot on the quayside. Alderson's book was finally published in 1994 two years before his death, in America, by an American publisher.
The whole episode is a international disgrace and filled with horror stories and few on the Allied side come out of it with any honour. Let there be no equivocation on this matter: US and British leaders, military officers and personnel were guilty of War Crimes similar to those levelled at some defendants at the Nuremberg Trials. Criminal acts were ordered and Allied soldiers and officers should have refused to follow orders and a few did but were treated with severe threats and/or punishments. The majority of American and British servicemen followed orders -just as claimed by many German soldiers accused of being war criminals- and so in this series of acts code named "Operation Keelhaul" the Allied soldiery were no more moral or courageous in standing up against wicked military orders than their German counterparts some of whom hanged for their moral ambivalence. Why were these unfortunates driven back to death and slavery? Why were the Allies willing accomplices to the Evil of Bolshevism and the tyrant Stalin? When the true nature of the world is understood such questions never arise. For, the wicked, Evil Power that has the West in its grip also has Russia in its grip.Communism was created, nourished and controlled by the same Dark Force that has gradually taken command of all power structures and institutions of the West. This force is exercised through the Dark Empire of Secret Societies whose ancient plan is to bring together the entire world under their sway in a Global Empire. Using a global dialectic of "Capitalism" versus "Communism" this Dark Power has manoeuvred the world into situations that otherwise would never happen. They greeted each other warmly, and Sheldon proudly presented the booklet [with a roster of names and résumé's that they wanted in their cabinet]. Carter took it, read it, and began to cry. 'When he got back to Virginia Beach,' Sheldon said, 'Jimmy was so touched by all the work that we did that tears came to his eyes.' I said, 'Lou, you are wrong. The reason he cried is because the appointment process is out of his hands, and he is not going to appoint any of his [own] people'."
Pat Robertson: this vignette appears in Robertson's book, "New World Order" and concerns a man, Lou Sheldon, a pro-family advocate and personal friend of Jimmy Carter who, before Carter won the Presidential election, discussed what type of people they would like in Carter's cabinet. Their optimism and idealism was cruelly disabused when the powerbrokers behind Carter foisted their own people on Carter such that not one person Jimmy Carter wanted in his Cabinet was appointed. Not one. The true Lords of Power who control the political process of the West selected them all for him. This power is often called the Anglo-American Establishment, the Liberal Establishment or simply The Establishment, whose exoteric expression is myriad but especially concentrated in the organisations called the Royal Institute on International Affairs (RIIA), the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and the Trilateral Commission (TC). Several weeks before winning the election, Hamilton Jordan, one of Jimmy Carter's aides, said:
"If, after the inauguration, you find a Cy Vance as Secretary of State and Zigbniew Brzezinski as head of National Security, then I would say we failed. And I would quit. But that's not going to happen. You're going to see new faces and new ideas."
Yet, Cyrus Vance did become the US Secretary of State and Zigbniew Brzezinski did become the Head of National Security. Why? Before becoming Secretary of State, Vance was not only a member of the CFR but also the Chairman of the Board of a very famous foundation … the Rockefeller Foundation. While Brzezinski's previous credits was his membership of the CFR, and co-founder of the Trilateral Commission with ... David Rockefeller ... the head of the CFR … the patriarch of the Rockefeller clan commonly referred to as "The Chairman of the Board" i.e. the de facto head of the socio-political agenda of New World Order. Similarly, Carter's Vice President, Walter Mondale, was CFR, as were those who filled the top three cabinet posts: Secretary of State - Cyrus Vance; Secretary of Defense - Harold Brown; Secretary of the Treasury - Michael Blumenthal So too was Carter's CIA Director a member of the CFR, as were his Secretary of HEW, HUD, his National Security Advisor, and his Ambassador to the UN. In fact, the top 19 positions in Carter's Cabinet were held by Trilateral Commission members, that is, one out of every three people in Jimmy Carter's cabinet belonged to the Trilateral Commission. Furthermore, every single person instrumental in constructing Carter's foreign policy had previously been a member of the Trilateral Commission. The Rockefeller "hidden hand" grip on executive power is further revealed in the nomination of Paul Volcker, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve System, who was a former employee of a very powerful bank … David Rockefeller's Chase Manhattan Bank. Briefly, the increasing influence of the CFR within the executive branch of American public life can be tabulated thus: Nixon - 115 CFR members; Carter - 284 CFR members; Reagan - 257 CFR members; Bush - 382 CFR members; Clinton - 17 of his top 19 Cabinet members were either CFR or TC. In short: there is a de facto "secret government," a Shadow Government that truly controls the executive power of the US whose presence can be discerned by perusal of the RIIA, CFR and TC membership rolls and by identifying these members in the positions of power they hold in each administration (1974)

A device whereby Delgado could remotely control a whole range of emotions and behaviours in both animals and humans. Furthermore, the greatest and most important function that money performs in society is, clearly, that it facilitates exchange vis-à-vis wealth or value. Before money, men used the primitive system of barter; however, the period of mere barter had passed before the time of the great Hebrew Patriarch, Abraham c.2000 BC. This was because the move from pastoral existence to urbanisation and the separation of employments into specialised fields necessitated a more sophisticated medium of exchange than barter could possibly afford. In short: urbanisation and industrial organisation is based upon the division of labour that is only possible through the agency of a medium of exchange. This is because the increasing specialisation of labour established a social order in which the individual produced little or nothing for the direct satisfaction of his own wants, and had perforce to live by exchanging his product for the products of others. Such an arrangement could only endure if an article existed that would be willingly accepted by all for the fruits of their labours: that is, an agency of value -money- the individual would accept for their special products. The adoption of money as an article of wealth exchange was crucial to the development of human society for it facilitated the growth of society from pastoralism to high culture and civilisation. For without "money" the difficulty of bringing together persons with reciprocal wants would have been an insurmountable obstacle to that development of exchange, which alone made division of labour possible, which is the prerequisite to civilised existence.
The second important function of money is to provide a ready means for estimating the comparative values of different commodities. For, common sense tells us that without some common object as a standard of comparison this would be practically impossible. For example, if a clockmaker had only clocks and wanted to buy bread, meat or a horse, it would problematical to determine how much bread he ought to obtain for a clock or how many clocks he should give for a horse. Moreover, the problems of equivalence increased as the number of commodities concerned increased, for each commodity would have to be quoted in terms of every other commodity. Thus, the societal imperative through the ages and within cultures to establish a common currency of exchange or "common object" that could be used as a medium of exchange and to determine comparative values of different commodities. By the selection of some particular article, the "common object," as the criterion the comparison of values is made much easier. Thus, the chosen commodity becomes a common denominator, common measure or "common object" of value in terms of which the value of all other goods are estimated. By such an arrangement, the "common object" –money- not only renders exchange possible by acting as an intermediate term in each transfer but also makes exchanges easier by making them definite.
Throughout history there has been a great variety of "common objects" or "money" which have been used to supply the need of a circulating medium ranging from seashells, feathers, animal skins, cattle, sheep, goats, oxen, pig, amber, ivory, jade, glass beads, silver and gold coin, paper currency and, today, electronic debit cards. Consequently, money in its various forms has been the great agency for transmitting values from place to place. Furthermore, the Form of Money or is not important since these are so diverse and are merely symbols that represent economic value to a particular people at a specific in a convenient and commercially acceptable forms. Furthermore, "value" is a subjective and therefore a psychological concept, which is independent of the purely mechanical aspects of economics.
Another important function of money arose at a later stage in Western culture when the economic infrastructure and its participants became more sophisticated and trusting of each other and entered into relations arising from "contracts." That is, an agreement that something is to be done in the future for which payment will be given and received. Naturally, for an estimation of the value of that future act a standard is thus required and so money which has already acted as a medium of exchange and as a measure of value at a given time, performs a third function, by affording an approximate means of estimating the present value of the future act. Here, money may be regarded as a standard of value or of deferred payments.
Thus, there are four important functions of Money:
That it supplies the common medium by which exchanges are made possible, that is, it facilitates exchange vis-à-vis wealth or value. Money is thus a commodity universally accepted in exchange for goods, services and for the discharge of debts or contracts.
That it supplies the common measure by which the comparative values of those exchanges are estimated. That is, to provide a ready means for estimating the comparative values of different commodities. That it supplies the standard by which future obligations are determined. That is, money affords an approximate means of estimating the present value of future acts conveniently called "contracts" whereby it functions as "deferred payments." Money thus serves as a standard of deferred payments; the unit in which loans are made and future transactions are fixed providing the commonly accepted basis for borrowing and lending. Importantly, it facilitates credit the primary feature in the contemporary economy.
That it provides a store of wealth, a convenient form - high value in small bulk- in which to hold any income not immediately required for use. That is, money provides a reserve of ready purchasing power and is the only completely liquid asset i.e. one readily convertible into other goods.
Briefly, then, money is a commodity accepted by consensus as a medium of economic exchange, i.e. the "common object." It is the medium in which prices and values are expressed, it facilitates trade by circulating from person to person and country to country and it is the principal measure of wealth and acts as a store of value; for in no other way could a large body of wealth be concentrated. However, although the term "money" has come to include anything that functions as money there has been considerable hesitation in more prudent circles to extend the term to those forms of credit that are in modern societies the chief instrument of exchange e.g. "Bonds" and "Derivatives."
The employment of metals as money material is a recent phenomenon in human history and was probably invented in Lydia when the king, Gyges, struck the earliest coins in the 7th century BC. These coins were called "staters" and were made of electrum, an alloy of gold and silver. Later, gold was coined, and, by the time of Croesus, the last king of Lydia (reigned c.560–46) renowned for his great wealth, gold and silver coins were in circulation. The Persians used the staters of Lydia, which were current there under Cyrus II the Great the eventual conqueror of Lydia. The Persians adopted the Lydian model, and coined both gold and silver coins called "darics", named after Darius Hystaspes (521-485 BC) who is reputed to have introduced the system into the Persian Empire. A silver coin circulating in Persia in conjunction with the gold daric was the so-called silver darics, 20 of which were equivalent to the gold daric, it was called the "siglos" and was known to the ancient Hebrews who translated this as "shekel" (Neh. 5:15)
Base metals have been used frequently by past cultures; for instance, iron was widely used as currency in antiquity, especially in Greece. An early Chinese currency was a bimetallic coin minted in copper and iron, which later was used as a subsidiary coinage in Japan. This combination also figured in the first Hebrew coins. The use of copper as money has been more extensive than is the case in respect to the metals just mentioned. It, as stated, was used in China along with iron an early instance of bimetallism and it figured in the first Hebrew coins. Copper was the sole Roman coinage until 269 BC and it has endured as a part of the token coinage modern currencies. However, it is the intrinsic value of two metals –gold and silver- that has given them, the precious metals, pre-eminence as the media of exchange between people. Silver especially was a favourite material for money and was the chief form of money until the end of the 18th century. Silver was the principal Greek money material, as it was in Rome after 269 BC as it was also the leading constituent in the currencies of medieval Europe. Although silver was until the end of the 18th century the chief form of money, and often looked on as forming the necessary standard substance of value, gold became pre-eminent as money in the Victorian era. Although gold was always treasured by past peoples its use as ubiquitous coinage is a recent phenomenon and until recently the pre-eminence of gold as money was beyond dispute.

Reasons for their Adoption as Monetary Standards
In the course of monetary evolution, there has been a long process of selection and elimination as the qualities that are especially desirable in the articles used for money has changed through time and across cultures. However, two salient facts emerge regarding the use of the varied materials of currency, both metallic and non-metallic:
That the metals tend to supersede all other forms of money among progressive communities;
That the more valuable metals displace the less valuable ones.
There seven primary reasons for this are:
The material of money must have the attributes of wealth; i.e. that it is useful, transferable and limited in supply. These conditions are essential to the existence of value and any instrument for measuring and transferring values must possess them.
The amount of value in proportion to weight or mass must be inversely proportional. That is, high value in small bulk is very desirable since it gives the quality of portability, want of which was a fatal obstacle to the continued use of many early forms of money e.g. Skins, corn, tobacco, iron and copper. Animals, such as Sheep, goats, camels, horses and oxen, although self-moving, are expensive to transport from place to place.
The material of money should be uniform so that one unit shall be equal in value to another is a necessity, which is as decidedly lacking in cattle-currency as it is prominent in the metals.
The material of money must be capable of being divided without loss of value, and, if needed, of being reunited. Most of the articles used in primitive societies such as seashells, eggs, skins and cattle do not have this quality.
The material of money should also be durable, which excludes all animal and most vegetable substances from the class of suitable currency materials.
The material of money must be easily recognised as of a given value. Articles otherwise well fitted for money-use, e.g. precious stones, suffer through the difficulty of estimating their value.
The material of money, functioning as a standard of value, should alter in its own value as little as possible. That is, money should not alter within short periods, which is a characteristic of the more valuable metals, and particularly of silver and gold. However, complete fixity of value is from the nature of things unattainable so the nearest to this ideal that can be secured is desirable. This quality - fixity of value- was not of great importance in early societies for future obligations were few and piddling. However, in more complex societies, and especially with the growth of mercantilism, industry and commerce in Western civilisation and the expansion of the system of contracts, covering a distant future, the baneful effects of a shifting standard of value became problematical in currency movements around the globe. Solutions to this problem have spawned ingenious devices to correct fluctuations … devices that have ultimately sown the seeds of destruction of the modern fiat monetary regime with its floating-exchange system.
Thus, metals to a greater degree than non-metals possess the requisites desirable in the material of money. Moreover, these desirable qualities can be reducible to this: Metals are durable, homogeneous, divisible and recognisable, and because of these superior advantages they were, until very recently, the only substances used for money by advanced nations. However, not all metals are equal in their desirability as a store of wealth or their use as money. Iron was rejected because of its low value and its liability to rust, lead because of its softness, and tin from its tendency to break. More importantly, all these metals and their alloys, as well as copper, are unsuitable due to their low value, which hinders their speedy transmission so as to adjust inequalities of local prices. Once the cheaper metals are excluded as suitable materials for forming principal currencies what was left was silver and gold. Moreover, in the late Victorian era there was a very decided movement towards the adoption of gold as the sole monetary standard, with silver being regarded as suitable only for a subsidiary coinage. The reasons for gold and silver being the most suitable materials for currency are by virtue of their special features and can be summarised thus:
The value of gold and silver changes by slow degrees i.e. fixity of value;
Gold and silver are readily divisible, which may be reunited by means of fusion without loss;
Gold and silver do not deteriorate by being kept;
Gold and silver are firm and compact texture makes them difficult to wear;
The cost of production, especially of gold, is so considerable that they possess great value in small bulk, and can of course be transported with comparative facility;
The identity of gold and silver is perfect.
Richard Cantillon (died 1734) the Irish economist and financier who wrote one of the earliest treatises on modern economics and whose treatment of the theory of money was of pioneering importance give a pithy description why both these metals posses all the qualities needed in money. Gold and silver, wrote Cantillon, are alone are of small volume, of equal goodness, easy of transport, divisible without loss, easily guarded, beautiful and brilliant and durable almost to eternity. Anne-Robert-Jacques Turgot (1727-81) the French economist was more adamant and asserted that gold and silver became universal money by the nature and force of things, independent of all convention and law; consequently to proscribe either of them by law from being used as money is a violation of the nature of things. It is because of this almost immutable law of value, recognised by most thinking people, that gold was not only the Ancient Metal of Kings but the future standard currency in a post-fiat money system.

Who issues money is perforce both politically and economically a very important question, for control of a nation's money supply ipso facto brings with it control of that nation's credit and thus control of that nation. Primitive societies in which monetary affairs were crude, where money was not sharply distinguished from commodities, there was no difficulty in the matter. In such times, seashells, skins or cattle and the like were money by the force of things and this condition endured as long as crude metals were used. However, when coinage was introduced the idea of a regulating authority also came into being. For, increasingly sophisticated economics within the progressively organized state not only made it necessary to enforce contracts but also the parallel system of penalties made it incumbent on monarchs and judges to provide due standards of payment. Furthermore, the demands of raising and controlling state revenue made it a matter of interest to the ruler to provide a good medium of payment. Thus, although private persons often exercised the privilege of coining, even at the very beginning of the organised state coinage was a special prerogative of the king. Furthermore, the larger states became the more stringent the control over the issue of money; for instance, in the later Roman Empire the right of coining was reserved to the emperor exclusively. After the fall of the Roman Empire the traditions of prerogative passed on to the medieval kings but in the modern state the regulation money has been definitely vested in the supreme authority, i.e. the sovereign.
Coins are manufactured articles for which the sovereign often imposed a charge sufficient to cover the cost. Such a charge, the fee charged by a government for coining bullion, is called Seigniorage, which has in many cases been so fixed as to bring in a large profit to the government. Seigniorage was and is a source of considerable profit for monarchs and sovereigns.
It is incumbent on the state to maintain its currency in a sound condition; as such it has to deal with the question of its expense. This is composed of several elements:
The cost of manufacture
The loss through the attrition which money undergoes in the work of circulating;
The interest on the capital sunk in the monetary stock.
The expense of coinage is richly justified by the services that a good currency renders to a nation. However, coins or uncoined bullion can be an inconvenient and insecure mode for conveying large quantities of value and so in the late 18th century, certain banks began issuing various forms of paper notes —banknotes— to represent convenient denominations of money. This was the beginning of the so-called fiduciary or representative money and the various forms of credit in which so much of the modern economy consist.
Initially, fiduciary or representative money -money consisting of promises to pay in another medium- was redeemable for gold or silver and these became the principal money of growing industrial economies. Furthermore, for a variety of practical reasons, the circulating coinage began to be made of base metal alloys, also taken to represent gold or silver on deposit somewhere and available on demand.
Temporarily during World War I and permanently from the era of the Great Depression of the 1930s, the gold standard was abandoned by most nations, meaning that paper money was no longer convertible to gold on demand. Paper money issued on the general credit of a nation and not based on deposits of money metal is often called Representative or Fiat Money.

ΑΠΟΚΑΛΥΨΗ: Έργα και ημέρες του Σουηδού ΥΠΕΞ στην Τουρκία
Μόνο τυχαία δεν είνια η εχθρική στάση του Σουηδού υπουργού των Εξωτερικών Carl Bildt έναντι των ελληνικών θέσεων για το Κυπριακό. Ο Σουηδός ΥΠΕΞ έχει δεθεί με την Τουρκία με επενδύσεις εκατομμυρίων και μάλιστα σε τέτοιο βαθμό που και ο σουηδικός Τύπος έφτασε να ζητά ακόμη και αυτή την παραίτησή του!
Σύμφωνα με την σουηδική εφημερίδα «Dagens Nyheter», ο κ. Bildt προωθούσε επενδύσεις στην Τουρκία, μέσω σουηδικού ταμείου. Πρόκειται για το Ταμείο East Capital, στο οποίο ο Σουηδός ΥΠΕΞ έχει, κατά άμεσο ή έμμεσο τρόπο, προσωπικά κεφάλαια.
Σύμφωνα με έκθεση του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών της Σουηδίας, της 27ης Οκτωβρίου του 2006, ο κ. Bildt είχε διανείμει το μετοχικό κεφάλαιο του East Capital, που φθάνει το 1.818.219 δισεκατομμύριο σουηδικές κορόνες (αντιστοιχούν σε 192.565.578 εκατομμύρια ευρώ) σε τρία μέρη: το πρώτο στο East Capital Explorer 1.526.003 SEK (Κορόνες Σουηδίας), το δεύτερο στο Επενδυτικό Ταμείο «East Capital» για τα Βαλκάνια 275.791 εκατ. SEK και το τρίτο στο East Capital για την Τουρκία 16.425 εκατ. SEK.
Τα σουηδικά κεφάλαια του Επενδυτικού Ταμείου για την Τουρκία απορροφήθηκαν και από εταιρεία του Τουρκικού Στρατού. Όμως, η Τουρκία δεν απορροφά χρήματα για επενδύσεις μόνο από το ταμείο που την αφορά ονομαστικά, αλλά και από τα υπόλοιπα ταμειακά επίπεδα...
Τουλάχιστον το 25% του ταμείου για τα Βαλκάνια επενδύεται στην Τουρκία και συνολικά οι επενδύσεις στη χώρα αυτή, λόγω της δράσης του Bildt, φθάνουν το 1 δις SEK, που αναλογούν σε 105.898.329 εκατ. ευρώ.
Ο κ. Bildt είχε αναλάβει τη διαφημιστική προβολή της σημασίας των επενδύσεων στην Τουρκία. Και το έπραξε επιτυχώς. Μεταξύ των συμφωνιών τις οποίες προώθησε, περιλαμβάνεται και αυτή με εταιρεία του Τουρκικού Στρατού.
Η εν λόγω επένδυση φθάνει το 11,4% του συνολικού Επενδυτικού Ταμείου του East Capital για την Τουρκία και αφορά στην τουρκική εταιρεία Adana Cimento. Η εταιρεία αυτή είναι ιδιοκτησία του ΟΥΕΚ. Δηλαδή του τουρκικού «Armed Forces Pension Fund» (Ταμείο Συντάξεων των Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων). Το ΟΥΕΚ έχει υπό τον έλεγχό του περί τις 40 εταιρείες και συνιστά μέρος του τουρκικού οικονομικού κατεστημένου. Η Adana Cimento είναι μια από τις μεγαλύτερες εταιρείες παραγωγής τσιμέντου στη Μεσόγειο.
Ο κ. Billdt παραιτήθηκε από το Ταμείο East Capital στις 21 Οκτωβρίου του 2006, 15 μέρες μετά την ανάληψη των καθηκόντων του ως υπουργού των Εξωτερικών. Όμως, οι επενδύσεις του Ταμείου East Capital με την εταιρεία του τουρκικού στρατού θεωρούνται «κόκκινη κηλίδα» για τη σουηδική πολιτική ζωή.
Σε σχετικό με το θέμα άρθρο, που δημοσιεύτηκε στο σουηδικό Τύπο, και πιο συγκεκριμένα στην εφημερίδα «Expressen», οι επενδύσεις προς την εταιρεία του τουρκικού στρατού χαρακτηρίζονται ως «ματωμένες μετοχές». Και δόθηκε αυτός ο χαρακτηρισμός, διότι προβάλλεται ο ισχυρισμός ότι εκείνοι οι οποίοι διοικούν την τουρκική εταιρεία Adana Cimento, χρηματοδοτούσαν 12 μέλη της τουρκικής μυστικής αστυνομίας, που κατηγορούνταν για βασανιστήρια και δολοφονίες οκτώ αντικαθεστωτικών Κούρδων, μεταξύ των οποίων και ο συγγραφέας Musa Anter.
Βεβαίως, οι μετοχές, που ο Σουηδός ΥΠΕΞ διαχειρίστηκε, δεν είναι ματωμένες μόνο λόγω των εγκλημάτων του τουρκικού παρακράτους, αλλά και ένεκα των σχέσεων του κ. Bildt με την πολεμική περιοχή του Νταρφούρ. Ο δημοσιογράφος Goran Greider έγραψε στην εφημερίδα «Dagens Nyheter» ότι δεν ήταν τυχαίο το γεγονός ότι ο κ. Bildt απέφυγε να αναφερθεί σε γενοκτονία στο Νταρφούρ. Και ο λόγος, σύμφωνα με την Dagens Nyheter, ήταν η προηγούμενη σχέση του κ. Bildt με την εταιρεία Lundin Oil, που δραστηριοποιείται στην περιοχή.
Πέραν τούτου, οι επιχειρηματικές δραστηριότητες του κ. Bildt απλώνονται και αλλού, καθότι διέθετε μεγάλης αξίας μετοχές στη ρωσική εταιρεία Gazpon. Από αυτές πώλησε, μόλις εξελέγη ως υπουργός των Εξωτερικών, 1 εκ. SEK. Διατηρεί, όμως, μετοχές αξίες 5 εκ. SEK. Αυτό θεωρήθηκε ως ασυμβίβαστο με τη θέση που κατέχει ως υπουργός των Εξωτερικών. Πολλοί, μάλιστα, στη Σουηδία παρομοίασαν τον κ. Bildt με τον Χένρι Κίσινγκερ, λόγω της αμφιλεγόμενης στάσης του στη Δυτική Παπούα, δηλαδή τη δυτική Νέα Γουινέα, η οποία προσαρτήθηκε στην Ινδονησία με αμερικανική στήριξη.
Συνεπώς, και η θετική στάση του έναντι της αποσχιστικής πολιτικής του ψευδοκράτους και της Τουρκίας έχει οικονομική βάση και είναι ποτισμένη και θεμελιωμένη με συμφέροντα.
Η στάση του κ. Bildt έναντι της Τουρκίας, κατά συνέπεια, δύσκολα μπορεί να αλλάξει, γιατί στηρίζεται σε προσωπικά και άλλα συμφέροντα. Σε αρκετές περιπτώσεις οι αντιδράσεις του στο Συμβούλιο χαρακτηρίζονται από επιθετικότητα και ειρωνεία σε ό,τι αφορά την Κύπρο και δεν συνάδουν με αυτό το οποίο γνωρίζουμε ως σουηδικό πολιτικό πολιτισμό. Όμως, μέσα στο διπλωματικό παιχνίδι, είναι πάντοτε ενταγμένα τα οικονομικά και άλλα συμφέροντα. Ανέκαθεν η διεθνής πολιτική σκακιέρα στηριζόταν πρώτα στα συμφέροντα και μετά στην ηθική.
Οι κανόνες της ηθικής ήταν και παραμένουν μεθοδολογικό εργαλείο κάλυψης νόμιμων και παράνομων ενεργειών. Στην περίπτωση του Σουηδού ΥΠΕΞ έχουμε ένα απροκάλυπτο φαινόμενο. Και εχθρικό, που έχει σχέση περισσότερο με τις δικές του προθέσεις επί των πολιτικών και οικονομικών του επιλογών και πολύ λιγότερο με τη δική μας πολιτική και στάση απέναντί του. Άλλωστε, όπως γράφει ο σουηδικός Τύπος, ο κ. Bildt ήταν ο κεντρικός διαφημιστής των επενδύσεων του East Capital. Και η διαφήμιση αυτή είχε στηριχθεί στον ισχυρισμό περί της σταθερότητας της τουρκικής οικονομίας και της ανάπτυξης, καθώς και του εκδημοκρατισμού της Τουρκίας. Τώρα πώς μπορεί να κάνει πίσω;
Λογικό είναι, ασχέτως εάν ηθικώς είναι ασυμβίβαστο με τη θέση του, να προωθήσει πολιτικά τις τουρκικές θέσεις, δηλαδή τις πολιτικές θέσεις μιας χώρας με την οποία επέλεξε να συνδεθεί παντοιοτρόπως.
